Online Banking

MellowYellowBadge

One of the things that I love about banking nowadays is that I can do it online. Very convenient for someone like me who always feel so lazy to go out in the morning.

Aside from the convenience in paying bills and fund transfers, online banking made it easier for everyone to track their bank accounts anywhere they are.

When my sister saw the domain name, she was like… corny! Why this name?

Well, let me tell you why I chose Kashbanc.com as this blog’s domain name…

You see, back when I started a couple of years ago, those days I was so obsessed with monetizing my blogs, I was thinking of a domain name that would sound lucky. Something about cash and blog being my bank where I will get money from. I didn’t want to use the words cash and bank exactly so I changed the first and last letters of the combined words. Thus, Kashbanc. Instead of what should have been Cashbank.

Do you now get where the domain name came from?

Start Saving Up

I started this year with the hope of being able to save up. I have spent the past couple of years from hand to mouth. Always waiting for the paycheck to arrive to spend all of it regardless whether I have a budget to follow or not. But, well, cash inflow was not what I expected it to be. Now that I was all bent to save up, there’s not enough to keep in the bank.

Whatever.

This second half of the year, no matter what the cashflow will be like, before this year ends, there should be enough money in the bank for me. That’s a must!

I need to start saving up!

Booklights and Hello Kitty Bag

Notepad Pen and Booklight

My new haul! Booklights, a small Hello Kitty bag for when I go to the grocery store and just need a small bag to carry my wallet and cellphone in, a notepad and pen that I can bring along anywhere I go. I am a bit forgetful so the notepad and pen are great tools for me to jot down important things I might forget.

Happy Friday!

I have a thing for cute wallets. In fact, I have a collection at home. I am often teased about this love for wallets because, obviously, I can’t use them all and I basically chuck out ones that I have forgotten. And these are unused ones. He-he-he!

Cute Wallet

I love yellow and this polka dot wallet looks like a lucky one for me ;)

I am so sorry for not being able to provide the rates for the past couple of months. That will be rectified starting today. Every Friday, I will be posting the peso-US dollar exchange rate in Paypal and in the local market. This is for bloggers like me who are dependent on the exchange rates for their side incomes.

I will post this Friday’s end of week rates in a while…

Don’t you just hate it when there’s a sale going on and you don’t have the money to purchase any of the items you like?

It happened to me last July 30 to August 1 when SM North Edsa held a 3-day Great Northern Sale. And now there’s the National Bookstore Cut Price Sale. I am hoping I can get some of the books I have on my to-buy list. But I have to wait until next week.

Have you been to any sale lately? Were you able to buy things you like?

I have told you about my credit card woes. It should be a good example to you not to be impulsive when it comes to swiping that card. When you use it, try not to use your credit card again until you pay what you purchased first. That way, you are limiting your acquisitions to what you can actually afford. Avoid bringing it with you all the time. It is a big temptation sitting in your wallet waiting for you to buy that item you actually don’t need right now.

Also, limit your credit cards to only one if you can. No need to be maintaining two to three or more credit cards when you know you will just use it to bury yourself in debts. If you have the discipline or you can afford to pay all cards in one fell swoop, then go ahead and maintain that many cards. Otherwise, it is best to keep only one.

Credit cards can be a great backup funding when there’s a need for it. But it can also give you the biggest problem if you don’t watch out.

Credit cards. I had huge problems because of it. I had two about a decade ago. In the first week I had my very first credit card, I maxed it out. I bought a refrigerator for my mom. I bought my siblings clothes and shoes. I treated my family to a sumptuous lunch. I bought my dad a CD player.

After a month of that one fine day, the bill started arriving. Since I could only the minimum payment required, the interests/finance charges piled up. Every time the bill arrives, I dreaded to see how much interest was added to my existing debt. The penalties also started piling up. Before I knew it, I was neck-deep in debt and I could barely make ends meet!

I began dropping calls from collection agents. I really dreaded month-ends because that’s when bills arrived and the calls came. I knew I was in trouble already but my priority was my siblings tuition fees and the food my family would eat before any bill payment. That was my mistake.

Until the day came when a subpoena arrived. I was already sued by the credit card company for defaulting on payments. I could not meet payments anymore and the loan ballooned out of proportion.

What I did was I settled with the bank personally. I asked for an amnesty. I was tasked to pay 3,000 pesos per month which was what I could meet that time. And then when I had a windfall, I paid what was left of my credit card debt.

The good thing is that I was given a clearance by the credit card company saying that I was cleared of any obligation to them. The bad side of it all was I got a bad credit standing that until now I was suffering from.
